High Peak MP Andrew Bingham is due to meet the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling, later this month as part of his tireless efforts to get the bypass built as soon as possible.

Andrew is determined to start 2017 by once again impressing on the Secretary of State that the approved scheme needs to start quickly, and that an extension around Hollingworth and Tintwistle is still needed by local residents.

Andrew said:

"I am constantly contacted by constituents who are desperate to see work started. Although there are a lot of legal procedures to be gone through, I agree that we need to see some progress, and I will be making this point very clear when I meet with the Secretary of State later this month at a regional round table discussion.

"I will also be pressing the point that the people of Tintwistle still need a bypass of their own. I am continuing to push for an extension to the announced scheme, as I know just how much the village needs it."
